Beginners in design and graduates of our Basic Website Building course who want to go deeper. If you have an eye for how things look and want to learn how professional website designs are actually created, this is your course.
What you’ll learn
- Design fundamentals — layout, spacing, alignment and visual hierarchy
- Colour & typography — choosing combinations that look professional and read well
- Design tools — working in Figma, the tool design teams use
- Designing for mobile — responsive thinking: one design, every screen size
- Components & patterns — headers, buttons, cards, forms and the building blocks of pages
- Working with brand styles — logos, style guides and keeping a whole site consistent
- From design to website — how a design becomes a live site, and preparing designs a developer can build from
- Design project — design a complete website for a small business, start to finish
Skills & outcomes
You will finish able to plan and produce clean, modern page designs in Figma, think responsively from the first sketch, and present a complete website design as a portfolio piece that shows what you can do.
Format
In-person sessions in Jhelum, project-based throughout: short teaching sessions followed by design practice, ending with your own complete design project.
